Roger&Gallet Gingembre Rouge Shower Gel Review

No joke, I honestly own in excess of about twenty shower gels. I like to chop and change my scents, and always get suckered in by seasonal surprises (Lush, I blame you). I have always preferred products around the £10 mark than drugstore offerings, as they give a much more enjoyable shower experience, from the scent to the way they make your skin feel. The most recent launch from a new-ish brand to me (I reviewed their hand creams earlier on in the year) is the Gingembre Rouge range from Roger&Gallet. I've been testing out the Fresh Shower Gel* (£9) for the past couple of weeks, and I've literally not wanted to use anything else.

Gingembre has been a staple scent in the Roger&Gallet range for years, and for 2015 they have released Gingembre Rouge as a modern update. Roger&Gallet take us on an imaginary journey to Zanzibar with a mysterious fragrance comprising of multiple layers of ginger, mixed with sensual florals and exotic fruits.

Roger&Gallet Gingembre Rouge Shower Gel Review

The notes (for the Gingembre Rouge Eau Fraiche Perfume, I presume the shower gel will be very similar) consist of a punchy fruit opening of mandarin and pomegranate, mixed with a grating of fresh ginger. Moving into the heart, things get a little sweeter with the addition of lychee, whilst remaining sophisticated with feminine orange blossom and ginger flower. At the base, there is ginger again, which is combined with cedar to emphasize its natural woodiness. The fragrance is rounded off with a sensual shimmer of white musk.

Now I can't personally vouch for the perfume, but the shower gel presents itself as being fruity scent. The citrus almost smells like grapefruit, which makes it great for awakening the senses in the morning. The florals also come through, making it smell very feminine. This scent almost reminds me of another rouge creation, Estée Lauder's Modern Muse

The shower gel has a luxurious and hydrating formula with a soothing aloe vera base. It has no artificial colours, and is paraben, soap and sulphate free. Roger&Gallet shower gels are such a treat, and the scents are beautiful too. Talking of scents, I also love Fleur de Figuier, which I have in the hand cream, and the pretty Fleur d'Osmanthus, which I've been lusting after for quite some time.

Roger&Gallet Gingembre Rouge is the perfect transitional shower scent for autumn, and one I'm glad I added to my repertoire. The fruitiness is enough to make you reminisce about the summer just gone, yet it has a certain depth that is just made for fall. J'adore le rouge!
