Top 6 Hand Creams

Hand cream is one of those boring products that realistically, you only really need one of. That being said, I've ended up with quite the collection. Hand creams arrive in the form of gift sets and magazine freebies, so I can't remember the last time I had to physically purchase a tube. I've narrowed my stash down to the six best brands in my opinion. They are listed in no particular order as I simply couldn't rate them from 6 to 1, but I do have a couple of favourites.

Top 6 Hand Creams

L'OCCITANE SHEA BUTTER HAND CREAM

I'm going to start with an old favourite. The L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (from £8 for 30ml) is such a classic and one that I've relied on for many winters to soothe my chapped hands. Containing 30% shea butter, this has a thick formula where a little goes a long way. This one always has its place in my winter handbag. The only thing I would change about it is the scent as it is quite strongly perfumed.

ROGER&GALLET HAND & NAIL BALM

Next we have a product I reviewed in full last year, the Roger&Gallet Hand & Nail Balm* (£6). I reviewed two different scents, but Fleur de Figuier came out on top for its addictive fruitiness. I fully intend on picking up this perfume this summer as it is such a fun scent! This hand cream has more of a lightweight balm that absorbs really quickly so you can get back to your tasks as soon as possible, so is perfect to have beside your computer. This one also leaves hands ridiculously silky and soft, which is always a bonus.

CRABTREE & EVELYN ULTRA MOISTURISING HAND THERAPY

One hand cream that I have used consistently for the last couple of months, and one that I think has a great formula is the Ultra Moisturising Hand Therapy (from £5 for 25g) from Crabtree & Evelyn. This comes in lots of different scents, but the one I'm currenly using is the Citron Honey & Coriander scent, which is lovely. This has a lighter formula than a lot of others in this list, but it makes up for it in its moisturising properties.

CLARINS HAND & NAIL TREATMENT  CREAM

On to a couple of newer discoveries, the first of which being the Clarins Hand & Nail Treatment Cream (£21 full size). I got this as a GWP at christmas time and was instantly really impressed with it. The formula is really luxurious. It absorbs really quickly with no greasiness or stickiness and leaves hands really soft. It is designed to condition nails, as well as target targets age spots and sun damage which also makes it a good option for mature skin, however the scent isn't my favourite.

MERUMAYA HYDRATE & PROTECT HAND CREAM

Another luxurious offering is the Merumaya Hydrate & Protect Hand Cream* (£12.50). This one is really nourishing, thanks to the inclusion of hyaluronic acid in the formula. It is lightweight and absorbs really easily into the skin, making it another great one to have on your desk. One of my favourite things about this hand cream, besides the gorgeous signature scent, is the fact that it is the only cream in my collection that contains SPF. This comes in the form of broad spectrum UVA/UVB in factor 15. I'm ashamed to say that I've never bothered about protecting my hands from the sun, but I definitely will be calling on this in the summer. This is a great option if you spend a lot of time in the sun, and we all know protecting your hands is Kylie Jenner's no.1 beauty tip.

OUTDOOR HANDS INTENSE SKIN THERAPY CREAM

Last but by no means least is the best value hand cream of the lot. The Outdoor Hands Intense Skin Therapy Cream* comes in a mammoth 100ml tube, all for £6.95! Designed for those with manual jobs, Outdoor Hands contains a myriad of nourishing oils, Vitamin E and Aloe Vera to condition the hands back to health. Despite the intense formula, this isn't greasy in the slightest which honestly, is a pleasant surprise. One of the best things about this is the fact that you can use it on chapped elbows, feet and knees. It reminds me of similar aqueous cream type formulas, however this one doesn't contain any parabens or petroleum-based ingredients, meaning it's great for prolonged use. I know this would have been a lifesaver when I was working as a barista as I was forever destroying my hands with the heat of the coffee machine and dishwasher.

Top 6 Hand Creams

Although I would happily reach for any of these hand creams on the daily, my favourites have to be L'Occitane and Roger & Gallet. Because I've used the L'Occitane for years, it's become so ingrained in me to pull it out when winter arrives. The Roger&Gallet is probably one of my favourite year-round discoveries, simply because it leaves hands soft without being any way greasy. Even mum now rates it one of the best!
