5 New Things

5 New Things Carex skinChemists Hairburst

There are so many products that don't make it on to this blog, whether that's things I've bought myself, things from goodie bags or things that may not need a full-scale review. I thought I'd add this little series to the roster, a kind of mid-month round-up some things that I've been loving or trying out. This month I'm covering all things skincare, as well as a couple of miscellaneous products too.

1) Carex Lovehearts

I'm going to kick things off with something that's really bloody exciting: handwash* (£1.60) that smells like Lovehearts sweets, and if you don't think that's the best thing ever then it's best if you leave... Although they are tailored towards kids, I'm a huge fan of Carex's Fun Editions range (read the full review here), as they not only smell amazing and make the menial task of washing your hands fun, they don't dry out your hands either. I think my all-time favourite has to be the bubblegum, but this one is pretty gosh darn good too!

2) skinChemists Advanced Snail Duo Moisturiser

The skinChemists Advanced Snail Duo Moisturiser* (£72) is a lightweight day cream formulated with snail gel of all things! I'd heard a lot about snail gel in skincare, so was keen to try it out for myself, and this one has such a gorgeous cooling texture that just melts into the skin. It works a treat as a primer underneath your makeup too!

The Advanced Snail range was created for all ages and skin types to hydrate, reduce blemishes and delay ageing. The moisturiser also contains ingredients such as coconut oil to hydrate and repair, Vitamin E which creates a natural barrier against environmental damage and Creatine, to regenerate the skin.  I really wanted to love this but it's just not hydrating enough for me right now as my skin has gone from being oily to being on the drier side of combination. I'm going to put this aside for when my skin is a little more oily as it really is a beautiful moisturiser.

5 New Things Hairburst

3) Hairburst

The Hairburst Chewable Hair Vitamins* (£19.99) are something that I mentioned back in my August Favourites, and as promised, I'm back with an update. These are skin, hair and nails tablets in the genius form of little gummy hearts with a delicious strawberry and blackcurrant flavour. Trust me, you'll wish these were a pack of sweets but it's a maximum of 2 per day sadly! Hairburst contain all the vital supplements you need to maximise hair growth, including Biotin, Selenium, Zinc, B5, B6 & B12. These act to increase the strength and elasticity of your hair, and reduce breakage, leaving you with a thicker, healthier mane. There's a ton more info on the website about what each ingredient does, so if you want to read up on that, you can do so here

I'm just coming up to finishing my month's supply of Hairburst, and I'm really enjoying them. I haven't been taking them as regularly as I like, because I find unlike ordinary vitamin tablets, I don't really want to be having gummy sweets with my breakfast, so I've been forgetting to take them. Despite that, I've definitely seen an effect in both my hair and nails. Although I've switched up my haircare routine to include some fibrology products, I'm positive that my hair is slightly thicker and heathier down to these. My nails have also been a lot stronger, which is great because I'm really trying to make an effort to look after them. I'd definitely recommend Hairburst if you're looking for a supplement for your diet, especially if you don't like swallowing tablets!
5 New Things Willow Body

4) Willow Body

There's been a real trend for coffee scrubs at the moment, and Willow Body are the first I've tried. There are two varieties included in the Body Kit* (£23), Coffee & Peppermint and Sea Salt & Pomegranate. They are hydrating and are particularly good if you fake tan, with just enough scrub to make the skin smooth and soft whilst still being kind to the skin. Both smell delicious, but the one that I've surprisingly been obsessed with is the coffee one. It smells like freshly brewed coffee and After Eights at Christmas! I can't get enough of it!

5 New Things Facetox

5) FaceTox

FaceTox* (£24.99) is a mask that contains organic rosewater and Rhassoul clay powder, which you mix up together with the included plastic pot and spatula. This easy to use kit creates a powerful cocktail which claims to draw out blackheads, reduce the appearance of scarring, even skin tone, draw out toxins, and unclog and shrink pores. A little goes a long way. I only really needed half the sachet each time and had tons left over, great to do with a friend or a willing partner!

I found it easy to apply to the face with a smooth, cooling consistency with teeny tiny exfoliants. After the 30 minutes, it does dry down but wasn't too uncomfortable or tight when it was on, however I've never had a mask that was so difficult and painful to remove. Although my skin did feel soft and smooth, for me the results weren't enough to warrant the effort. If you love a really intense clay mask, then FaceTox would be a great one for you, especially if you're looking for something paraben and cruelty free!
